AI Should Run on the Devices People Already Own.

At Kohenoor Labs, we believe access to artificial intelligence should not depend on expensive GPUs, powerful computers, or the latest smartphones.

On February 11, 2026, we began an ambitious research initiative: engineering small, open-weight language models into capable, subject-specific and audience-centered AI assistants.

After nearly nine months of research, experimentation, fine-tuning, and testing, we are pleased to share the progress of KAIPAL (Kohenoor Artificial Intelligence – Pocket Assistant Lite).

Our research focuses on:

✅ Open-weight language models ranging from 2B to 5B parameters.

✅ Lightweight model files between 1GB and 4GB.

✅ Local AI inference on ordinary CPUs, without requiring dedicated GPUs.

✅ Compatibility with modest desktops, older laptops, and existing smartphones.

✅ Specialized intelligence for education, professional assistance, creativity, and everyday needs.

Three experimental KAIPAL models have already been successfully released and are publicly available.

Our research continues, with a clear objective: making smaller AI models increasingly useful, dependable, and affordable through focused engineering rather than simply increasing parameter counts.

Performance will naturally vary across devices and workloads, but our direction remains unchanged.

We don't believe people should have to upgrade their hardware to experience useful AI. We believe AI should be engineered to work on the hardware they already have.
